Resource management for people who panic-spend

May 7, 2026 · Marek Horvath

I used to empty my resources the second I had them. It felt productive. It also lost me a lot of levels in kingdom-builders like Ironvale Siege, where holding back a little pays off more than you'd think.

The shift was learning to keep a small reserve. Having enough to react, a repair here, an emergency tower there, beats being fully committed and helpless when the wave surprises you. Flexibility is a resource too.

Prioritise economy early when the game is quiet, then pivot to defence as pressure builds. Most games front-load easy waves for exactly this reason, and skipping that window is a slow way to lose late.

None of this is fancy. Spend when it buys you a real advantage, save when the next few seconds are calm, and stop treating a full bank as a problem to solve immediately.
